LABC Awards season kicks off with the Central Building Excellence Awards 2019
The LABC Central Building Excellence Awards returned to the Doubletree by Hilton, Milton Keynes (home of the MK Dons) last Friday 5 April 2019.
250 building control professionals and representatives from the construction industry were at the event hosted by LABC's Managing Director, Phil Hammond.
LABC awards technical design and construction skills and focuses on well-built buildings that comply with the Building Regulations - and of course the Awards are a great opportunity to network.
A glittering evening
Representatives from LABC sponsors Abbey Pynford, Actis, FMB, Home&Build, Jewson, LABC Acoustics, LABC Warranty, Keystone Group, Keylite and Polypipe presented trophies and certificates to the 14 winning and 2 highly commended projects and individuals. Winning projects this year ranged from an ice skating arena to a bus garage.
All will automatically qualify for the Grand Finals, which we're holding on Friday 8 November at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
LABC's Chief Executive Paul Everall said, "These awards are different. They aren’t about good looks or fancy design (although many winners incorporate both). They are about quality and standards.
"No other building awards look at how well buildings are put together from start to finish and the skills and competencies of those who design and construct them. We are very proud of everyone involved – they show the way ahead for the industry."
The cherry on the cake
More than £1,500 was raised for LABC President Dave Sharp's chosen charity, We Build the Future which focuses on helping people in the construction and built environment beat cancer.
