Press Release
Martin Caldwell, Redrow Homes wins at 2017 LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Final

Martin Caldwell LABC award winner

Martin Caldwell of Redrow Homes was awarded the title of LABC Residential Site Agent of the Year at the Grand Final of the LABC Building Excellence Awards – one of the most recognised events on the building industry’s calendar.

A panel of industry experts judged a list of the highest quality projects and professionals from around England and Wales to reward the best in technical innovation, sustainability and design.

Martin Caldwell is a site agent working for Redrow Homes on the Ricksby Grange scheme in Wrea Green, Lancashire. He has been asked by Redrow Lancashire to become their Considerate Constructors Scheme 'Champion' so he can share, advise and be a point of contact regarding the scheme for all the other site managers in the business. This site agent went to great lengths to engage with the community and delivered talks to the local school, organising ‘welly walks’ for local residents and making bat boxes out of old pallets. Improving the carbon footprint was high on the agenda and the workforce were actively encouraged to cycle to work or car share.

Martin said “Keeping the workforce involved and informed of site success and progress often results in them 'buying into' positive practices. Who wouldn't want to be part of a successful team?”

LABC Chief Executive Paul Everall said: “It is always a pleasure to recognise individuals that go the extra mile as part of their role. My congratulations to Martin, on behalf of everyone at LABC. It’s a testament to his skills and dedication. He is a deserving winner of the Residential Site Agent of the Year award.”

The Grand Finals of the LABC Building Excellence Awards took place on Friday 10 November 2017 at the Westminster Park Plaza in London and was hosted by Gyles Brandreth, writer, broadcaster, actor, and former Conservative Member of Parliament. Over 800 building industry professionals including contractors, architects and engineers attended the celebration to find out which projects won across the 15 hotly contested categories.
