Press Release
Chassay Last Architects wins at 2017 LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Final

Chassay Last Architects was awarded the title of Best Partnership with a Local Authority Building Control Team at the Grand Final of the LABC Building Excellence Awards – one of the most recognised events on the building industry’s calendar.

A panel of industry experts judged a list of the highest quality projects from around England and Wales to reward the best in technical innovation, sustainability and design. Chassay Last Architects has been part of the Local Authority Partner Authority Scheme working with Camden Council Building Control for a number of years.

Albert Grant, Principal Building Control Surveyor from Camden Council said “We have been partnered with Chassay & Last Architects since 2009. We have collaborated on a variety of projects from high volume housing to bespoke residential units, offices and shops including Slough Central development for One Housing Group as well as other schemes in various boroughs in London. We engage in pre-application meetings well before planning applications are submitted so that our comments are included in the design process from the onset. We are delighted that this Partnership has been recognised in this way.”

This partnership highlights an extremely successful and long term working arrangement via the formal LABC partnership scheme and the excellent personal and professional relationships which have developed. The Partners are invited to in-house CPD events, and attend regular update meetings as well as very early pre-application engagement. A large range of applications are submitted via this partnership- ranging both in type and geographical distribution, with both parties benefiting from consistency in approach and working relationships. An excellent example of the LABC Partnership scheme in practice.

LABC Chief Executive Paul Everall said: “Congratulations to Chassay Last Architects on winning this prestigious award. They’re a great example of how good communication and cooperation has such a positive impact on construction projects.”

“Our building excellence awards are an opportunity for the industry to celebrate good practice. Our winners demonstrate how positive working relationships with local authority building control teams achieves high quality, sustainable buildings. Our awards are unique because they recognise how this cooperation improves building standards and professionalism across the industry.”

The Grand Finals of the LABC Building Excellence Awards took place on Friday 10 November 2017 at the Westminster Park Plaza in London and was hosted by Gyles Brandreth, writer, broadcaster, actor, and former Conservative Member of Parliament.  Over 800 building industry professionals including contractors, architects and engineers attended the celebration to find out which projects won across the 15 hotly contested categories.
