The LABC Building Excellence Awards are back for 2021/2022
LABC is delighted to announce the re-launch of our awards programme for 2021/22.
As you know, COVID-19 did not stop work for the construction industry last year so it’s time to celebrate the excellent projects completed in 2020 and the fabulous, talented people who made them happen.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards are the largest business to business awards in the building control sector in the UK. Our network covers all local authorities in England and Wales and is split into 12 regions. In previous years shortlisted entries would be invited to attend the regional awards with the winners of each category qualifying for our Grand Finals. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we’re unable to hold the regional awards this year. Instead, we’ll be holding one national event that celebrate both places and people in the construction industry which will take place in January 2022.
The ‘Place’ awards will focus on projects that you and your teams have worked on, whilst the ‘People’ awards will celebrate individual contributions.
We’ve added more categories to the Place Awards so it’s even easier to find the one your project fits into. We think these new categories better represent the projects you’ve been involved in – with better clarification on sizes of new residential developments and more categories specific to the thriving RMI and domestic market.
The People Awards have a range of new categories focussing on competence and standards in buildings – recognising those that go the extra mile to ensure projects are built safely and comply with the building regulations. Whether this is a builder or architect working on a domestic extension, someone leading a site team creating a new commercial or residential building or public service heroes working in the fire service or indeed in our own Local Authority Building Control teams, there are opportunities to recognise all outstanding members of project teams.
Entry forms are open now – remember this is for any project completed in 2020 or anyone involved in one of those projects. The form is easy to complete (no long PR pieces required) and you can save it as you go on and come back to it. You can nominate your own project or person – all nominations will be endorsed by the LABC team you worked with.
Closing date and judging
The deadline for nominations is Friday 2nd July
The judging will take place in our regions in September and the regional winners will go through to the national judging process. Our national judges are all external industry champions and leaders in their fields.
