Fire safety exam success AND a promotion for aPT's Joe Strafford
Joe Strafford was one of 200 local authority building control surveyors who passed an LABC five hour fire safety validation exam recently - and became the first in his county to do so.
To make Joe's year even better, he was then promoted to lead the seven person building control team in Midlands Development Consultancy apT, just a few weeks afterwards!
In passing the Fire Safety Specialist Competence Validation course, as well as being given access to associate membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), Joe and other successful candidates are now able to advise on fire safety for tall and complex buildings throughout England and Wales.
The assessment was developed by LABC, with help from the IFE, to enable local authorities' most experienced (Level 6) surveyors to demonstrate their competence in fire safety in higher risk and complex buildings.
The qualification shows that we have the knowledge and know-how within apT to deal with building issues of the most complex nature to ensure that our clients achieve compliance with all regulations.Joe Strafford of apT

Our next exam is taking place in London, Leeds and Leicester on 24 September 2019. Watch LABC's Deputy Chief Executive Lorna Stimpson explain why it's never been as important to have your knowledge and experience validated officially, by visiting our members page.
(Joe's story came to our attention in the Government and Public Sector Journal - read the full article here.)
