Congratulations to all our winners in the Grand Finals 2021!
The LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Finals 2021 took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London on Friday 28 January 2022. Over 750 guests attended the black tie event.
This was our first Awards event since 2019 and we were all excited to plan the Grand Finals 2021 and see submissions from amazing projects and people. What a great way to start the year!
The pandemic has allowed us to revisit how we deliver the awards and better represent our profession. These streamlined awards focus on great projects and the people delivering these projects - looking closely at best practice and exemplar projects throughout England and Wales.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards focus on the very best in technical innovation and construction quality, helping to raise the level of construction quality across England and Wales. Employing creative solutions in order to improve sustainability and energy efficiency and cooperative team working are examples of the criteria we use to choose which of our regional winners go on to win or earn a high commendation at these national construction awards.
Event highlights
There were 24 winners and 8 highly commended entries which were chosen by a panel of construction industry experts. Winning projects include; The Old Beams, Abbey School, GICU University Hospital, and many more! You can see all of the award winners and highly commended here.
Attendees included representatives from Willmott Dixon, St George PLC, and Hertfordshire Building Control to name a few.
LABC's charity of the year 'YoungMinds', who help support young ones with mental health, will benefit from £3,500 raised on the night. Thanks to everyone for your generous donations!
Here's what Lorna Stimpson, LABC Chief Executive said about the winning projects,
“These new style awards reflect LABC’s new focus on skills, quality and competency and reflect the best in construction from a technical perspective."
