Here at LABC, we offer a range of accredited qualifications from levels 3 to 6 for Local Authority Building Control teams. Whether you want to top up your professional knowledge or learn something new, you can enrol onto one of our enriching qualifications and progress your career in building control.
Our qualifications launched in August 2018 and since then, we have had over 450 students develop their careers in building control. Our experienced and professional tutors will provide you with extensive knowledge and support throughout your learning.

Level 3 – Technical Support Certificate
Designed for building control administrative staff this programme aims to develop the learner’s knowledge and skill to perform building control administrative tasks.

Level 4 – Residential Surveying Diploma
Designed for new building control officers working on domestic extensions and alterations.
Next start date: November 2021
Level 5 - Low Risk - Non-Residential Surveying Diploma
Designed for experienced building control officers working on low-risk new housing / apartments / commercial and industrial projects.
Next start date: November 2021
Public Service Building Control Apprenticeship Degree
Designed for new building control officers or building control officers with some experience.
Next start date: January 2022
Level 6 - Fire Safety in Complex Buildings Certificate
Designed for mid-career highly experienced building control officers who have responsibility for regulating the fire safety of complex high-risk projects.
Next start date: November 2021
Level 6 - Managing Legislative Compliance Certificate
Designed for mid-career highly experienced building control officers and / or managers who have responsibility for complex enforcement cases.
Next start date: November 2021
Level 6 - Management of Public Service Building Control Certificate
Designed to look at how to manage enforcement by influencing Policies within the Authority Constitution, Risk Assessments, Lone Working Policies, Emergency Planning, Staff development and action proportionate to the risks presented.
Next start date: February 2022
Level 6 - SASG & other Public Events Certificate
Designed for mid-career highly experienced building control officers who have responsibility for regulating public safety at sports ground and other large events.
Next start date: February 2022
All lectures and assignments will take place online, on the LABC Virtual Learning Environment. You will have access to the course on the VLE about one week before the course start date.
