LABC Building Excellence Awards 2024 winner: Construction Specialist of the Year

The LABC Grand Finals 2024 took place on Friday 24 January 2025, at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel. A celebration recognising excellent projects and individual contributions within the construction industry.

A panel of expert judges carefully reviewed a diverse range of exceptional projects, professionals, and teams, recognising their invaluable contributions to the industry.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards highlight the key role of public sector building control teams in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of construction projects, showcasing the sector’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of Construction Specialist of the Year is Colin Coulthard, Sunninghill Construction Co Ltd.

Colin has been in the industry for over 28 years, working on large and notable projects. To keep up to date with industry changes, the Sunninghill Design Department actively engage in CPD events, seminars and webinars and are required to keep up to date logs for relevant professional bodies. A dedicated individual with a keen eye for detail, Colin has a great skill for identifying future design issues and works to keep the lines of communication to the Building Control team open. Colin notes it is his close relationship with Sussex Building Control which plays a crucial role in helping projects run smoothly.

Colin said on his achievements, 

“It’s key for me to build relationships with both work colleagues and fellow professionals. I believe a close working relationship, with open communication, in any team promotes a good working environment with a pleasant and productive atmosphere.”
