LABC Building Excellence Awards 2024 winner: Best Individual New Home
The LABC Grand Finals 2024 took place on Friday 24 January 2025, at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel. A celebration recognising excellent projects and individual contributions within the construction industry.
A panel of expert judges carefully reviewed a diverse range of exceptional projects, professionals, and teams, recognising their invaluable contributions to the industry.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards highlight the key role of public sector building control teams in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of construction projects, showcasing the sector’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of the Best Individual New Home is Keynvor, Mawgan Porth.
Keynvor is a low-energy, sustainable home inspired by Passivhaus principles, replacing a 1970s holiday let that had undergone several refurbishments and extensions over the years. Located on a triangular plot, the site is less than 200m from the coastline, surrounded by converted 1960s/70s holiday lets. ARCO2 designed the new dwelling to embrace the site’s views and natural light, offering a series of interconnected private spaces for introspection.
The LABC public service building control team from Cornwall Council provided a dedicated officer who understood the design and specification approach of the project. Early informal discussions during the design process, along with close collaboration on the details and SAP, have ensured the best possible results and added overall value to the project.
Looking ahead, LABC remains committed to working together to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in construction, continuing to drive progress and excellence across the sector.
