LABC Building Excellence Awards 2023 winner: Local Authority Building Control Team of the Year
More than 900 leading construction industry figures attended the LABC Building Excellence Awards at The Grosvenor House Hotel, London to celebrate best practice, quality, and exemplary standards in construction.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards focus on professional skills and competence, as well as exemplar projects with categories for ‘People’ and ‘Places.’
A panel of industry experts judged a selection of the highest quality projects, professionals, and teams from around England and Wales to showcase solutions to complex technical or construction issues, site constraints and technical innovation. The awards highlight the vital contribution public sector building control teams make as part of the project team, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality construction projects.
LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of Local Authority Building Control Team of the Year is Hertfordshire Building Control.
Hertfordshire Building Control received multiple endorsements from customers who said their team consistently fostered a positive and collaborative working relationship, demonstrating a commitment to supporting projects from the initial design phase through to completion. Regardless of the situation, Hertfordshire Building Control remained readily available, promptly addressing any inquiries or concerns that arose. The team's cohesive approach and effective teamwork were instrumental in delivering satisfactory solutions.
Customer endorsements for their professionalism, responsiveness and building control expertise put them in the running for the LABC Team of the Year category.
That coupled with their positive contribution to the wider LABC network through working groups and regional meetings ensures they can keep the entire team abreast of changes and developments within the evolving building control profession. As well as adopting the LABC ISO 9001 Quality Management System their continued recruitment of new talent into the profession through their own apprenticeship programme demonstrates a commitment to public service building control and futureproofing their service.
Congratulating the whole team on their success, Lorna Stimpson, LABC Chief Executive said:
"I firmly believe that one of the best ways to see more good work is to praise building excellence and publicly acknowledge companies, designers, site managers and tradespeople who go that extra mile."
