Introducing the BSI Approved Document Q verification service

News
Window security Part Q

Following the introduction of Part Q of the building regulations (which came into force on 1 October 2015) designers and installers have been required to ensure that doors and windows which could provide access into dwellings are able to resist physical attack by casual or opportunist burglars.

The British Standards Institution (BSI) has identified that some installers are experiencing delays and difficulty in gathering the necessary information to prove that the doors and windows they fit meet the required standards.

BSI is offering an Approved Document Q verification service which aims to help installers reduce delays, decrease paperwork and prove that the products they install are fit for purpose.

Installers should note that this service is for the verification of doors and windows and their associated components, as supplied. The installation of these products must still be carried out in a manner that complies with the requirements of Approved Document Q.
