Fire Safety in Towers Conference - book now image

This conference has already taken place. Find out which LABC training events and conferences are coming soon by visiting our Training pages.

A host of issues have come into focus as a result of the tragic events at Grenfell Tower, and LABC are hosting a one-day Fire Safety in Towers conference in Birmingham on 15 September which will direct attention on fire safety in both residential and commercial tower blocks. (LABC members, visit this page to book.)

During the course of the day, we'll be looking beyond the building regulations at a number of key issues, helping to create awareness across professions to help everyone involved in construction see fire safety as a ‘Golden Thread’ that everyone needs to protect throughout the design, specification, purchasing, construction and post-occupation management.

Representatives from LABC and LABC Warranty will be joined on stage by speakers from the Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, the Institute of Fire Engineers and the National Fire Sprinkler Network. Joining them is U.S. fire engineering specialist Douglas H. Evans, who will have flown in from Vegas especially for this event.

Subjects will include high rise façades, External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS), common construction failures and the different 'qualities' of building regulations compliance.

Who is it aimed at?

The event is aimed at senior managers and others from housing and arm's length management associations, construction and development companies and home builders. Architects, project managers, quantity surveyors, university and compliance specialists, as well as fire and facilities managers and distributors will also benefit from the insight offered by our expert speakers.

We expect this to be a well-attended event and early booking is recommended as the number of places are restricted.
