LABC Building Excellence Awards 2024 winner: Best Small New Housing Development

Press Release

The LABC Grand Finals 2024 took place on Friday 24 January 2025, at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel. A celebration recognising excellent projects and individual contributions within the construction industry.

A panel of expert judges carefully reviewed a diverse range of exceptional projects, professionals, and teams, recognising their invaluable contributions to the industry.

The LABC Building Excellence Awards highlight the key role of public sector building control teams in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of construction projects, showcasing the sector’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of Best Small New Housing Development is The Paddocks, Bramley.

The Paddocks is a brand-new development of four individual detached new build homes, individually designed to sit within a semi-rural location. Built in a traditional way, using cutting edge technology but to the highest EPC rating (A), the property still maintains a traditional barn style/farmhouse look using specifically chosen materials. This has all been completed in a highly sustainable manner and embraces Bio-Diversity Net Gain.

The communication between the public service building control team at Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and the site team was key in this project. During the project, the site team needed to use a second Carpenter due to unforeseen circumstances with the first carpenter hired - due to the quick thinking of building control, a new sub-contractor was hired and integrated seamlessly. As points were highlighted with building control, there was a clear and open opportunity to have good lines of communication when reviewing drawings and technical details. Overall, this ensured the project moved forward with the quality always to the highest degree.

Looking ahead, LABC remains committed to working together to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in construction, continuing to drive progress and excellence across the sector.
