LABC Building Excellence Awards 2024 winner: Best High Volume New Housing Development

Press Release
Ryves Vale, Tickenham

The LABC Grand Finals 2024 took place on Friday 24 January 2025, at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel. A celebration recognising excellent projects and individual contributions within the construction industry.

A panel of expert judges carefully reviewed a diverse range of exceptional projects, professionals, and teams, recognising their invaluable contributions to the industry.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards highlight the key role of public sector building control teams in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of construction projects, showcasing the sector’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

LABC is delighted to announce that the WINNER of Best High Volume New Housing Development is Ryves Vale, Tickenham.

Set in the picturesque North Somerset countryside, Ryves Vale in Tickenham presents a collection of private, zero-carbon homes. This pioneering development features sustainably built three, four, and five-bedroom homes, marking the first large-scale project of its kind. Over 50% of the development is public open space, with up to 1,000 fast-growing native trees planted to help offset emissions.

Due to the innovative technologies involved and the target of being zero-carbon, this development required a close working relationship between the building control team at North Somerset Council and the construction team. Regular site visits and meetings fostered a positive collaborative approach, contributing to the success of the Ryves Vale project. This close partnership has resulted in a final outcome that not only exceeds current building regulation standards but is also future proof in terms of climate considerations.

Looking ahead, LABC remains committed to working together to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in construction, continuing to drive progress and excellence across the sector.
