Solve thermal issues caused by ducts
Condensation in domestic dwellings can lead to significant structural problems, costly redecorating and can affect the health of the occupants if left to develop into mould.
Domus Thermal from Polypipe Ventilation is a patented duct insulation system designed to significantly improve the thermal insulation of ventilation ducting to reduce heat loss and prevent the formation of condensation. Each of its sections consists of two moulded halves that fit snugly around the ducting and simply lock into place using a moulded interlocking feature.
Domus Thermal complies with Part F of current Building Regulations and the Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide, which states that ducting must be insulated where it passes through unheated areas and voids (e.g. loft spaces), to the equivalent of at least 25mm of a material with thermal conductivity of ≤0.04W/(m.K), to reduce the possibility of condensation forming. Domestic duct insulation products on the market are generally unable to meet this requirement, but Domus Thermal exceeds the standard, providing ≤0.03W/(m.K) thermal conductivity with a space-saving 20mm thickness.
Domus Thermal is recognised by LABC - through its existing Registered Details certification - for this as well as to insulate rigid ducting passing between an MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) appliance and external terminals in the heated area of a property.
