Robust Details update: Private stairs

News
Wooden staircase

In the fourth Robust Details handbook update this year, guidance is provided for private stair situations.

This is where there are two flats (one above the other) incorporating internal stairs that are open to the upper flat.

Such an arrangement usually prevents the flanking condition published in the floor Robust Detail from being fully constructed.

The new guidance addresses precast plank floor structures with floating screed finishes.

Robust Details will also be looking to issue further guidance on the private stairs where:

  • Beam and block floors E-FC-6 are used
  • A single leaf wall is used above the floor

Other amendments include removing the obsolete product name, Round The House Roll from E-WM-17 and E-WM-20

A complete copy of the most up to date handbook is always available on the Robust Details website. If you prefer to keep a hard copy you can print off the pack from the downloads section of the website, and insert the pages into your handbook following the instructions on the first page of the update pack.

Previous packs are also available.
