LABC Chief Executive Paul Everall, announced he is to step down from his role at the end of December at LABC's 2019 President’s Reception at the Royal Society on 1 October. Guests were also given the news that current Deputy Chief Executive, Lorna Stimpson becomes joint Chief Executive with Paul for a three month handover period.
Paul said, “I have enjoyed 14 years as Chief Executive and have faced many challenges during that period but now it is time for me to move on. In my time I have met many industry and professional experts dedicated to raising professional standards and developing people.
"The commitment to public service from those working in local authorities is second to none and has survived red-tape challenges, austerity and a culture against strong enforcement for two decades of government."
Paul described his strong working relationship with Lorna Stimpson, saying, "I have every confidence in her vision, strategy and implementation skills. And I will continue to offer LABC my help, support and advice to ensure LABC’s success in this new era."
Peter Keates, LABC’s Chair, commented saying, "Paul Everall has steered LABC through more than a decade of constant change and challenges. He built a very successful team that has adapted to the needs of our members and reacted to the changing pressures upon them.
"Our Board, past directors, presidents and regional chairs give Paul a huge vote of thanks for his contribution in establishing LABC as a leading contributor to policy and practice."
