On 28 November 2016 we held our National Awards for Building Excellence at the Westminster Park Plaza in London. Hosted by Nick Knowles of DIY SOS the evening was a tremendous success, celebrating some fantastic building projects undertaken throughout England & Wales during 2015.

Award categories that year ranged from Best Extension or Alteration to an Existing House through to Best Large Commercial Building.

All nominations on the night had already won one of the 12 Regional Awards, with the Nationals identifying the best of the best.

Over 700 building industry professionals including contractors, architects and engineers attended the celebration to find out which projects had won across the 15 hotly contested categories.

David Pratt of Lynnic Associates - Best Local Builder 2016Lynnic Associates Ltd, based in Chesterfield won the Best Local Builder award, and director Steve Corrigan and his team of 10 were absolutely blown away to receive it.

Steve said “It really hasn’t sunk in yet - we hadn’t come down from cloud nine after winning the East Midlands Regional award in June. This is just the icing on the cake and I am so pleased that what we work hard to do on a day-to-day basis has been recognised.

"Hopefully our current small housing project will be worthy of consideration for an LABC award in future.”

David Pratt, Building Control Team Leader at Mansfield District Council who nominated Lynnic said: “Steve’s commitment to customer satisfaction and first class work puts him at the top of the table for builders working in and around Mansfield.

"He fully embraces working with building control and it has been a pleasure to work with him.”

Unlike many national award schemes, which seem to focus on the big contractors and developers, the LABC Awards have you in mind.

We’ve always recognised and admired the skill, knowledge and sheer craftsmanship of many of the builders our surveyors work with and our awards celebrate this.

LABC awards are not based on architecture, but on construction quality, innovation, problem-solving and ‘excellence’ measured against the building regulations.

We want to promote good work and what could advertise your expertise to potential customers better than an award from your local building control team?

Could this be you next year?
