How to avoid problems when installing fire doors

Blog Post
fire doors

Three million new fire doors are bought and installed every year in the UK. They resist fire, stop smoke and allow precious time for people to escape or survive until rescue.

As a building contractor, delivering a job in, on, or under budget is constant pressure - and one of the tempting areas to compromise on is fire doors. But fire doors are an important part of every building as they are often the first line of defence in a fire.

Their correct specification, installation, and management can be the difference between life and death for building occupants. While choosing cheaper, untested products and using uncertified installers may save your client money, it can put you at risk.

What you should do with your fire doors

  1. Double-check the specification

  2. Use a certified installer

And if you want someone to confirm the work’s been done properly, LABC has more than 60 BRE-accredited fire door certifiers. Email consult@labc.co.uk or call 020 8616 8120 to be set up with one in your region.
