Fire-rated cavity closer
Timloc Building Products’ Thermo-loc FR cavity closer is a fire-rated cavity closer used to close the cavity at external doors, window jambs and sills.
It is made up of rigid, lightweight UPVC profiles fitted with fire-rated Rockfibre mineral wool insulation material (0.035W/mk) and is available to suit cavity widths of 50, 65, 75, 90 and 100mm. The product is supplied in 2.4 metre lengths, which can be easily trimmed to any required length.
As well as providing a minimum of 30 minutes fire resistance, the Thermo-loc FR system, which has LABC Registered Details certification EW318C, effectively seals off the cavity wall at door and window reveal positions without allowing moisture transfer across to the inner leaf.
As it also exceeds the minimum thermal resistance path of 0.45m2K/W stipulated in Robust Details’ Limited thermal Bridging and air leakage document, the Thermo-loc FR Cavity Closer will help achieve good air tightness and will therefore have a direct influence on the SAP (energy calculation) rating and help prevent ‘cold bridging’.
It can be used in both first fix and second fix installations in compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and is acceptable in all exposure zones.
LABC Registered Details, now known as LABC Assured (as of March 2019), is a one-off certification process proving compliance with building regulations and standards across England, Wales & Scotland. Registering your product, system or house type with LABC increases industry confidence while also raising the profile of your company.
