Don’t throw away money: the Jackpad foundation system

Traditional concrete pier foundations can be restrictive on certain projects and sometimes your client may want a quick turnaround or have environmental concerns that require an innovative solution. This is where the Jackpad reusable foundation system comes into play.

Manufactured from recycled plastic, the Jackpad foundation system is capable of supporting modular and relocatable buildings of all types in various single, double and treble-storey configurations. The portable foundation system has LABC Registered Details certification EW201.

It is comprised of three separate elements:

  • An adjuster consisting of two parts allows for final corrections to be made and can be designed to suit any individual project.
  • A recycled plastic support block takes this vertical load and disperses it through its base.
  • The use of incremental packers means the Jackpad system can offset any fall of ground and can be used on virtually all surfaces without ground works being required.

Typically, the ground-bearing pressure is to be no less than 130kn/m2, otherwise, additional dispersion measures must be undertaken on a project-specific basis.

Designed to be used in both temporary and permanent situations, Jackpad has been fully assessed by LABC as part of the Registered Details process and found to be compliant once the imposed load per Jackpad is no greater than 48kn.

LABC Registered Details, now known as LABC Assured (as of March 2019), is a one-off certification process proving compliance with building regulations and standards across England, Wales & Scotland. Registering your product, system or house type with LABC increases industry confidence while also raising the profile of your company.
