Building excellence awarded in the West Midlands
Friday night saw 250 construction professionals and council building control workers gather for the LABC West Midlands Excellence Awards 2018 at the Telford International Centre. LABC's Head of Network Change and Transformation Richard Scott was host for the evening.
The LABC Building Excellence awards celebrate brilliant building projects and individuals and award technical know-how and team-working to get the job done.
Winning projects this year included a stunning 'barn' wedding venue in Alveley and the new National College for High Speed Rail in Birmingham built to train apprentices on the HS2 railway.
Over £6,000 was raised for LABC President Chris Griffith-Jones' chosen charity, the Oracle Cancer Trust.

Representatives from Abbey Pynford, Actis, FMB, Home&Build, Jewson, LABC Acoustics, LABC Warranty, Polypipe Terrain and Swiftclean presented trophies and certificates to the 15 winning and 4 highly commended projects and individuals. The winners will be going to the Grand Finals, being held on Friday 9 November at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
LABC's Chief Executive Paul Everall said, "The awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the very best in construction in England and Wales, recognising the high level of quality and skill we can and do reach in the UK."
