Salary: SO1/2: £26,470 - to £30,756 subject to job evaluation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Council’s Building Control team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and forward thinking individual, to carry out Building Control duties including; plan checking, site inspections, enforcement and other building surveying duties when necessary. Based at Queen’s Buildings, Potter Street, Worksop, you will play a key role in our future success. You will be involved in the development and implementation of digital services to provide efficient and high-quality services to the local area.
Excellent interpersonal skills are required along with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of construction matters, the Building Act, Building Regulations and associated legislation.
Among other qualities, you will have:
- Significant experience of working with Dangerous Structures and Demolitions
- A BSc in Building Surveying or relevant equivalent qualification
- Full membership of RICS or CABE. Consideration may be given to candidates who are part qualified, completed their academic studies and have experience in a Building Control environment
- Report writing skills
- Full current driving licence
- Good standard of computer literacy.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the out-of-hours dangerous structure call out rota system.
The benefits of the above post include 24 days annual leave, rising to 29 after 5 years’ service, in addition to bank holidays, an extra day over the Christmas period and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
