CIOB Membership through LABC
Once you have completed your LABC BSc Hons in Building Control , you'll be eligible to apply for Chartered Member (MCIOB) level membership of the CIOB.
As part of your degree, you'll be given the opportunity to present your Professional Portfolio (log book) of work experience which will form part of your assessment within your degree programme. Passing this assessment will grant you chartered membership of the CIOB.
Applicants without a degree
The CIOB Chartered Membership Programme is a route to MCIOB for individuals with significant experience who lack formal qualifications at honours degree level. The aim of the programme is to provide a route to Chartered Membership that covers both the academic and competence requirements for CIOB membership.

Professional Portfolio
Whether you’re just starting your building control career or already carrying out differing roles and levels of responsibility you should be keeping an ongoing professional record (log book) of your developing experience. Your portfolio can include simply keeping CPD records to recording the application types, work types, inspection types, and levels of responsibility on projects that you have been involved in which will demonstrate your increasing responsibilities and competencies.
