LABC has links with many construction-related organisations. Here are just a few of them:
- The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) is dedicated to the protection of life, property, the environment and our heritage and promotes continuous improvement in all aspects of passive fire protection.
- The Building Control Alliance is a unique industry group made up of representatives from all the organisations directly involved in building control in England and Wales.
- The Building Research Establishment (BRE) provides a complete range of consultancy, testing, certification, commissioned research and training covering all aspects of the built environment and associated industries.
- The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) is the lead qualifying body for Architectural Technology and represents those practising and studying within the discipline.
- The Consortium of European Building Control (CEBC) promotes the interest of building control or a government body, active in the development of legislation associated with health, safety, accessibility, energy conservation and sustainability aspects of the built environment or a comparable agency.
- The Construction Industry Council (CIC) is the representative forum for the professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry.
- The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) is the world's largest and most influential professional body for construction management and leadership.
- Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) - To help reduce skills gaps and increase productivity within the construction industry. We're working with the CITB to deliver a national programme of technical roadshows that are being delivered at face to face events and through online learning.
- The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the industry to improve its image.
- The Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme (FENSA) is the first and most well-known Competent Person Scheme for the window and door installation industry in England and Wales. They ensure work complies with building regulations, is energy efficient, and registered with the local council.
- The Fire Sector Federation (FSF) is a not for profit non-government organisation established to act as a forum for the discussion of fire-related issues bringing together representatives from a range of stakeholders which make up the UK Fire Sector.
- Future of Building Control Profession group. This group is working in partnership with the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government to develop a strategy for the Building Control Profession. Working together in the public interest, the Group will propose a blueprint that will shape the future professional framework for building control in England, ensuring public confidence, through greater consistency in professional standards and regulation in this crucial function.
The Future of Building Control Profession group consists of: Association of Consultant Approved Inspectors, Chartered Association of Building Engineers, Chartered Institute of Building, Construction Industry Council, Construction Industry Council Approved Inspectors Register, Local Authority Building Control, National House-Building Council, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
- The Gas Safe Register is the only official gas registration body of gas businesses and engineers in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey. By law all gas businesses must be on the Gas Safe Register.
- The Gas Safety Trust previously operated under name of The CORGI Trust until March 2010. Originally established in 2005 as a registered charitable body, the GST has become the UK's leading gas safety charity with the key objectives of further improving gas/fossil fuel safety for the public and industry throughout the UK and reducing the incidents of death and serious injury from carbon monoxide (CO) exposure.
- The Good Homes Alliance (GHA) is a group of housing developers, building professionals and other industry supporters whose aim is to transform the UK housing sector to ensure it creates and maintains Good Homes for all.
- The Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme (HETAS) is the national organisation working for consumer safety and the wider public interest in safe, efficient and environmentally responsible use of biomass and other solid fuels.
- The Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate of Great Britain (ICWCI) is the professional body that supports quality construction through inspection.
- The National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT) provides certification services for contractors in the building services and fabric sectors.
- The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) is the professional voice of the UK fire and rescue service, driving improvement and development throughout the UK.
- The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) is the UK's largest roofing trade association representing over 70% of the roofing industry.
- The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) provides an important source of impartial advice and information on all manner of home improvements including renewable energy technologies.
- The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) provides assessment and certification services for contractors working across the building services sectors including electricians, renewable energy installers, plumbers and gas and heating engineers.
- TrustMark is the only Government endorsed 'find a tradesperson' scheme. As a 'not for profit' social enterprise, they pride themselves on continuing to invest in TrustMark, supporting the Scheme Operators and Registered Firms to improve consumer protection.
- The UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC) is a charity and membership organisation campaigning for a sustainable built environment. The UK-GBC facilitates dialogue between industry and Government to promote greener approaches in the construction sector.
- The Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) is the not for profit representative body for the £10 billion finishes and interiors sector in the UK. The organisation exists to support its members, improve safety, minimise risk, enhance productivity and drive innovation in the sector.
